Whether it is the teacher or the student that misses a day the others in class continue with the lesson and do not miss a beat in the curriculum. 3. Chez Chem is authored by a teacher who has a BA in Chemistry, a BS in Biology, and a BS in Science Education as well as an MA in Environmental Biology. Throughout her career, she has always been and currently is a state certified teacher in the public school system of the United States. She has 30 years of experience. 4. Students that have been through the program have been accepted at Yale, Harvard, Brown, Rice, and many other top universities. The students are well prepared for the demands of any science course. 5. Chez Chem was awarded the Siemens Foundation Award, the Vernon C Bulgrin High School Chemistry Teacher Award from the American Chemical Society, as well as other awards for exemplary teaching. 6. This a complete program to teach a foundational chemistry course. It is proven in the field. This program is helpful for a first year teacher, or parts can be used for a seasoned teacher, anytime. Chez Chem provides a back-up system and complementary program for teachers, students, and parents/guardians.

Who is Chez? And what is Chez Chem™?

This journey of Chez began long, long ago in Europe. Chez was NEVER going to be a teacher, but life had other plans. She hated Chemistry, but persevered because the goal was to become a veterinarian, specializing in horse legs. After many years of college and the required chemistry courses she found that veterinarian science was not where she wanted to be and changed to other industries; industrial chemical sales, water treatment sales, clean room management, but to no avail, nothing felt quite right. So, with great anticipation the education required was achieved and into the chemistry classroom she went. Chez was always a happy child, and growing up in a military family she got used to frequent moves and making new friends. She has always believed that though it seems we are not equal, we all have the same needs and desires no matter what our lot in life is. Something can be learned from everyone, and the less resistance we put forth the easier learning is. Everyone must be included. Through her experiences she has found that the only way to achieve her goals was with joy, gentleness and a disciplined commitment to those goals. If you just love others, it doesn’t matter what they think of you. Chez brings this love to the classroom and to everything she does. As a teacher and professional, her goal is to make the expectations of chemistry education achievable and fun. Chez Chem is a template for teaching that combines two things: a passion for a content area developed into a form that is understandable; and a teacher who cares about the success of the student. Chez has known for decades that education presented in an organized, interesting, enjoyable, and playful environment reaps effective and long-term learning. Thank you.
